Guide

Leah is the guide for the afternoon class. She completed her AMI Montessori training for 3-6 year olds in Vancouver in 2012. Before that, she completed a bachelor’s degree in musicology and taught children music and dance. Leah brings music and dance alive for the children in the classroom. She has a calm style and keen insights into preschool aged children. She has been working with children for 8 years and is a mother herself. She also holds an Early Childhood Educator Licence for BC and a first aid certificate.

Laurie is the school owner and director.  Laurie founded Monkey See Monkey Do Montessori in 2007 and has enjoyed running it ever since.  She is passionate about the Montessori pedagogy and takes immense pride and pleasure in watching the children develop in the classroom. She assists the morning class, supervises lunch, does the school administration, and cares for her own 2 children. Laurie has been working with preschool aged children for over 20 years, including 9 years as a Montessori preschool guide (both in Vancouver and in Switzerland). She has a BA from UBC, an AMI Montessori Teaching Certificate for 3-6 year olds, an Early Childhood Educator’s Certificate for BC, first aid training and many hours of professional development.  She is a member of the International Montessori Council.  She grew up in Vancouver and is pleased to be able to make a positive contribution to her community by running the school.

Julia Hogeling
Guide

Julia is the guide for the morning class and the assistant for the afternoon class. She is a master teacher with over 15 years experience teaching in Montessori preschools. Julia holds an AMI Montessori Teaching Certificate for 3-6 year olds from Toronto, an Early Childhood Educator’s Certificate for BC, and a Master’s Degree in Education from Loyola College in the USA. She is passionate about working with children from diverse cultures and takes great pleasure in observing and discovering all that children are capable of achieving. She loves children and is dedicated to the Montessori philosophy of education. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, seeing family, and taking zumba classes.
